warwick primary Athletics competition

On Thursday 8th June, a group of children from Years 3-6 represented the school at the Warwick Primary Athletics Competition. What a fabulous job they did! They were an absolute credit to themselves. I was so impressed with how they supported and encouraged each other in their events. They were cheering and congratulating each other brilliantly. All of the children competed showing great respect of others; they should be so proud of themselves. It was a very warm afternoon but they kept going and there were some very impressive performances. Thank you to all the staff who helped and supported and to the parents who helped with transporting children and cheering them on!

Mrs White

Please can we request that parents only share photos or videos that exclusively include their own children and remove any social media posts that may have other children in. This helps to safeguard children from our school and those of other schools who attended. Thank you in advance.

Haseley class

In Jigsaw, we have been exploring our new topic ‘Changing Me’. Miss Forbes asked our grownups to send her pictures of us as babies so we could have a go at guessing which baby was who. It was a very funny lesson and we loved finding out the changes we had experienced since we were babies.

Honiley class

In science, we have been learning about habitats. We explored our school garden and found lots of microhabitats. We were very sensible and used magnifying glasses to search for mini beasts. Then we made a pictogram to show all the different mini beasts that we had found. Well done, Year 2!

Shrewley Class

Last week, Year 4 visited the Habitat Survival Trust near Henley-in-Arden. We enjoyed a nature walk learning about meadow and woodland habitats and the wildlife that lives there. We also enjoyed a fascinating talk about bats before spending a super afternoon in the river. We carried out some fieldwork measuring the depth and current of the water in different places before working together to dam the river, a great way to cool off in the warm weather!

Alive! KS2 Concert

Key Stage Two had a great time attending the “Alive” concert kindly organised by Coventry Diocese. This was a fantastic event at Stoneleigh where we all sang, danced and learned how to be world changers. We all enjoyed a lovely joint picnic together too!

Hatton Class

We have had a super week exploring the life cycle of a butterfly through stories, non fiction books, art and Forest School activities. We have even got some real caterpillars in our classroom. We are watching them closely as they are growing very quickly. We have enjoyed comparing life cycles and we have been learning some new words like chrysalis and larvae. Do you know what the life cycle of a ladybird looks like?

Lowsonford Class

Designing and making waistcoats

Year 6 have been set the challenge of designing and making a waistcoat to represent a country in the continent of North America. They have worked incredibly hard to produce some fantastic designs. Following this, they have learnt to create patterns and cut out material. We are now sewing the parts together to help us produce a final waistcoat.

parent governor election

Thank you to the parents who volunteered to join us as a governor at Ferncumbe. Thank you also to all of the parents who took the time to vote.

I am pleased to confirm that Sally Rance has been elected and will be invited to our next meeting in July. The school website will be updated following that meeting so that you can see the individual roles that each governor oversees.

In the meantime, some of the governors will be running a stall at the fete next week so please do come and have a chat.

Donna Bothamley, Chair of Governors

With very best wishes for a lovely weekend,
