‘Meet the Teacher’ Evening

It was lovely to welcome so many of you into school this week for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentations. Several of you have requested the powerpoints which were shared, so early next week we will be emailing a copy out to you all.

Wroxall Class Kicks off Engineering Club!

This year, Mrs Grier is running an engineering club during ‘Enrichment’, using a simple building block called KAPLA. Similar to a Jenga block, these high-friction blocks can be used to make…anything! Each week, groups are given challenges, from towers to animals, bridges to marble runs, to test and develop many skills. We don’t know what the work place will look like for our children, or what jobs will have been created by then, so transferrable skills will be essential and the ability to ‘think on the spot’ will be invaluable. We work on logical thinking, creativity, patience, perseverance, team work and collaboration – especially when deciding who gets to knock it down at the end! More info can be found here…KAPLA.

Harvest festival

Our school Harvest Festival will take place at Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday 18th October at 9.15 am. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer an open invitation to all parents due to numbers. However, as it is Reception’s first visit to Church, Hatton Class parents are welcome to come and watch their child’s debut performance - there will be standing room at the rear of the Church.

Children are requested to bring dried food/packets/tins to school on the 18th October, which will then be donated to Warwick and Leamington Foodbank. Here is a list of items that are currently requested:

Children will carry a selection of these items to Church. As in the past, we also ask that a coin may be sellotaped to the top and any money donated given to charity. School Council will decide on the charity receiving the donation and you will be informed in due course of their decision and the amount raised.

SEN News

Mrs Adcock will be contacting parents next week with further details about the SEND Parent Forum. Thank you to those who expressed their interest.

applications for secondary school

If your child is in Year 6, then you have until Monday 31 October to submit your application for their secondary school place. There’s a range of useful information on the Warwickshire County Council website to help you apply, including a list of all local schools, a priority area map and a handy video to help you make realistic choices of schools. For these and guidance on how to apply, visit https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/applying-secondary-school-place.

If you need more help…

For the majority of families, applying to secondary school is fairly straightforward. However, if you need additional help for any reason, you can request this by filling out a short online form at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolplacehelp. Once you’ve done that, one of the WCC team will get in touch with you.

Rowington Class

Some Royal news for a member of Rowington Class this week. Carys, in Year 3, decided to write a letter to Princess Anne following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Carys was concerned about the Corgis and their wellbeing. She received a reply from the Princess reassuring her that the corgis were in good hands and being well taken care of!

Haseley Class

Year 1 have been reading a book called The Bog Baby. We wrote a sentence about what the Bog Babies were doing in Bluebell Woods using verbs. We also did a really good job and used capital letters and full stops. Well done Year 1!

We're looking to hear the views of children and young people to help shape the county and create a Child Friendly Warwickshire. The council has just launched Dialogue, a new online discussion platform, and Child Friendly Warwickshire is the first initiative to use the tool to engage with young people, their families, and schools.

Dialogue provides a safe space to form constructive ideas and make comments on what they think would make Warwickshire a better place to grow up in and more child/young person friendly! The Child Friendly Warwickshire Dialogue forum asks our Children and young people for more ideas to make Warwickshire as child friendly as possible, to enable all children and young people to be heard, safe, healthy, skilled, and happy.

We're encouraging children and young people to comment on existing ideas and add new ones here: https://discuss.warwickshire.gov.uk/

With very best wishes for a lovely weekend,
