HARVEST CELEBRATION

Many thanks to those children and families who helped school lead the Harvest service at Holy Trinity Church last Sunday. We will be celebrating Harvest in school on Thursday 21st October. Children are requested to bring a donation of food to school on the day, which will then be donated to Warwick and Leamington Foodbank. Please see below for ideas of what to bring.

Each class will share via their Class Twitter page how they choose to celebrate, so do keep an eye out!

National Poetry Day

NPD-2021-Website-Banner-scaled-1370x457.jpg

Each class celebrated National Poetry Day by reading, writing or listening to poetry in class on Thursday 7th October. This year’s theme was ‘choice’.

Year 4 looked at the poem ‘Which Wild One?’ by James Carter before thinking about which animal they would choose to be. We had quite a range of choices from dogs and horses, to monkeys and even a platypus!

Here are a couple of our animal poems:

Mischievous Monkeys

Which creature would you be?

Today, I’d choose to be a monkey

We all need space to roam and the gentle warm breeze blowing in your face

Who wouldn’t want that?

No greater space than a great massive jungle

Swinging from vine to vine, leaping from tree to tree

Endless days of play and mischief, gliding to steal fruit

Soaring at the top of the trees

Which animal do you think could possibly be better than a mischievous monkey?

Maia

What would I be?

What would I be? I think I would be a Great White Shark.

I need to roam the ocean, to be the ruler of the ocean

With razor sharp teeth, I am the largest predator on the entire planet

I want to be the red fury killer to the fish

I am as fast as a flash

The Legend of Speed

I want to leap out of my sleekly salt water

grab a beautiful fishing rod with slippery salmon and slimy cod

I want to be the most powerful, the most deadly, the greatest white shark!

Who wouldn’t want to be that?

Jakob

Rowington’s Science Investigation

Year 3 have enjoyed learning all about shadows as part of our Light Science topic. We conducted an investigation into how shadows are created and how they change size.

SHREWLEY CLASS

Year 4 have enjoyed art this week, where we took inspiration from our topic of Ancient Egypt. We each created our own sunset background and then added the silhouettes of pyramids and other plants or creatures that may be found in the desert sands of Egypt.

Every piece is unique and the children are rightly proud of their work. The paintings are now displayed in our classroom, bringing some welcome warmth and brightness at this time of year!

LOWSONFORD CLASS

Over the last couple of weeks, we have researched information about Lindisfarne (the location of the first Viking raid in England). We have worked in groups and organised this information into paragraphs. We have then drafted, edited and revised the information. This week we have finished presenting this information in a leaflet.

HASELEY CLASS

In Year 1, we have been studying a book called ‘The Bog Baby’. We read the story and have grown to love our own Bog Baby. Unfortunately, he went missing so we searched and searched, but we still couldn’t find him. So, we made missing posters and hung them up around the school in the hopes that someone would find and return him. Days went by, and still no sign. Until Tuesday, Tamson came to tell us that she was getting really fed up because adults around school kept sending her email after email with pictures of Bog Baby sightings and it was getting too much. None of the staff were able to catch him, but we did get a better idea of where he had been. Thankfully, on Thursday, he reappeared in our classroom, safe and sound!
