Wider opening
We are delighted to be able to welcome back children in Years 2-5 for a transition day towards the end of term, when they will be able to spend time catching up with some of their classmates and meet their new teacher(s) for the next academic year. Details on groups and dates have been sent out to parents of children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 this week.
Reception and Year 1 children will have transition time with their new teachers over the course of the next few weeks.

Supporting your family’s wellbeing
This is a really challenging time for everyone. It’s normal for children to feel worried or anxious at the moment. We’ve all experienced sudden changes in our lives and routines. Parents are balancing children being at home while juggling job commitments, financial concerns, health worries and care for vulnerable family members. Children have been separated from their friends and had to adapt to a different way of learning. Inevitably, this is going to feel stressful at times. Remind yourself it’s okay if things don’t feel right - it’s understandable in the circumstances.
When your children return to Ferncumbe, their emotional needs will be our priority. We will do all we can to provide you all with the warmest welcome and support the transition back into school. In the meantime, you might want to explore some resources that offer advice on reducing anxiety and promoting wellbeing. Here are a few websites you can refer to:

We hope you and your children are keeping safe and well during this time of uncertainty, we understand that life, school and education looks different at the moment.
You may be staying at home more than normal and it is important to ensure that you and your children are safe from fire and accidents in the home.
· Make sure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and test it once a week to ensure it is working correctly.
· Make sure plug sockets are not overloaded and switch off items that are not being used.
· Do not leave cooking unattended or children alone in the kitchen.
· Make sure candles and cigarettes are put out properly and never left unattended.
· Make sure your boiler is checked on an annual basis.
· Always have an escape plan and practice this with your children
