coronavirus (Covid-19)
As the situation around Covid-19 escalates nationally, we are being guided by the experts at Public Health England (PHE) who have established stringent criteria for if and when a school should close, and for how long. For now, we are trying to maintain business as usual and keep disruption to our children’s learning to a minimum.
We request that all families follow the latest PHE guidance as highlighted below and inform the school office if family members are showing symptoms. Many thanks for your ongoing cooperation.
Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms
Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:
a high temperature
a new, continuous cough
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.
wear yellow day!
In addition to the sunflowers gifted to pupils and staff last Friday, Darcey would personally like lo thank everyone for their support for turning Ferncumbe into a sea of vibrant yellow! Our School Council Treasurer has just finished counting up the money, and is proud to say that we have raised approximately £254. Darcey is hopeful that someone from The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation may soon be able to come into school to accept the cheque.
cross country event
Congratulations to both Luke and Lewis who attended a recent cross country event, in what were really tough conditions. Both boys did brilliantly to get to the end – it was a very wet and muddy course and a few finished with no shoes! Luckily, both Luke and Lewis managed to keep their trainers on all the way round. A fantastic effort by both!
Singing Playgrounds ‘Big celebration!’
Last Thursday, Miss Forbes and the Singing Playground Leaders went to King’s High School for a singing celebration event. Ferncumbe and other Singing Playground schools from the area joined together with Rebecca, Naomi and the Ex Cathedra team to learn 20 new songs, rehearse them and then perform in front of parents in the evening. The children worked so hard to remember each song and actions, and altogether the performance was outstanding! We can’t wait to be a part of the next event!
This saturday…
With very best wishes,
