Ferncumbe Friday
Friday 17th May 2019
date change
Please note that the Open Afternoon will now take place on Tuesday 16th July 2019, from 2-5pm (not Wednesday 17th July as previously stated). This will be a chance for you to visit your child’s classroom and take a look at their work with them.
art focus week
We are busy planning an exciting week of activities for our Art Focus Week (week beginning Monday 1st July). The week will kick off with a whole school trip to Coventry Cathedral, where the wonderful architecture, amongst other things, will serve to inspire us throughout the week. Rosie Brown, our ‘Artist in Residence’, will work with teachers and all the children at various points throughout the week to ensure that there are plenty of amazing opportunities for Art. It promises to be a really productive and engaging week.
After Sports Day and Family Picnic on Friday 5th July, we are asking parents to support us during the afternoon with an ambitious project - we will be designing our very own Ferncumbe Family origami sculpture, based on Sadako and The Thousand Paper Cranes (further information here… https://coventrycityofpeace.uk/sadako-sasakis-story/ ). We will be aiming to create a unique sculpture to display in school which will link with aspects of our school vision.
With 1000 cranes, angels and butterflies to create we will most definitely be needing your help, and would love to see you!

congratulations Lowsonford!
Year 6 children in Lowsonford Class completed their Key Stage 2 SATs yesterday. Throughout the week they all, without exception, showed tremendous focus, application and determination; we were so proud of them and know that they each gave their very best.
Many thanks to Mr Bladon who organised a breakfast each morning and also to every member of staff in school who supported the children by keeping morale high and stress levels low!
new menu
As detailed in the last newsletter, deli-bags or a hot lunch will be on offer to all children in school after half-term. For your convenience, I have provided links to the new 3-weekly menu. Each day children are offered the red option or blue (deli-bag) choice.

no idling
Dear Parent/Carer,
Now that the warmer weather is upon us, please can we remind you not to leave your car idling outside the school for any reason. Not only is it illegal, but the indisputable links between car emissions and allergies and asthma are risking the safety of our pupils, which is of paramount importance to us all. Please keep the walk to and from the cars free of idling emissions and join us in keeping our village and community safer and healthier.
Thank you,
Mrs Grier
With best wishes for a lovely weekend,
Tracey Webb, Deputy Headteacher
