FERNCUMBE FRIDAY
Friday 23rd June 2017
move-up day
On Wednesday 28th June 2017 all children will move up to their new classes for the day and spend time with their new teacher.
You will see from the list below that there are a few changes at Ferncumbe next year. After four successful years with us Miss Kennett is taking her expertise to a new teaching post in Solihull and Miss Hill is transferring to our partner school, Aylesford Primary, where she will continue to work closely with Ferncumbe. Mr Pagett is taking on challenges in pastures new in order to be closer to home, and Mrs Twemlow is reverting back to her role as SENCo.

Lowsonford (Year 6) Ms Houlihan, Mrs Webb
Please note that our Learning Support Assistants have a fluid role within school and will often work in different classrooms. The above information shows where teaching assistants will be based in September, but we do anticipate some changes as the year progresses.
Mr Kiernan and his team will take various classes for PE throughout the year and Mrs Allison will teach weekly language lessons in KS2 on a Tuesday.
On occasion there is the need to cover classes for regular teacher PPA (preparation, planning & assessment), illness and staff training. Our aim is to cover absence either 'in-house' or with supply staff who visit Ferncumbe regularly and are therefore a familiar face to the children. This aims to ensure a consistency of learning style and ethos.
ATHLETICS SUCCESS!
Our KS2 athletes were wonderful ambassadors for Ferncumbe last week at the 'Area Athletics' competition at Aylesford, with a number of outstanding performances on both the track and field. Many thanks to those of you who turned up to the event to offer your support. Particular mention to the following children who achieved first place against fierce competition from eight local primary schools. They now all go on to attend the Central Warwickshire Finals at Edmondscote on Thursday 29th June. We wish them all the very best of luck!

sports morning, family picnic and farmers' market
Our annual Sports Morning takes place on Friday 7th July. All parents are warmly invited to attend and support their child/ren taking part. The event will start at 9am. As usual this will be followed by a family picnic on the field and our Summer Farmers' Market in the afternoon.
On Sports Day all children should come to school in their PE kit, which they will then keep on throughout the day.
Should the Sports Morning be cancelled due to bad weather you will be informed via text message by 8am on the day. However, the Farmers' Market will go ahead whatever the weather.
Fingers crossed for sunshine!
sun-hats and water bottles
A reminder that all children should bring sun hats and water bottles to school, especially when the forecast is particularly hot and sunny. Thank you.
With best wishes for a lovely (slightly cooler!) weekend,
Tracey Webb, Deputy Headteacher
