Lowsondford Class - A visit to Coventry Cathedral

This week, Lowsonford Class had the pleasure of visiting Coventry Cathedral. This is part of Our Local Study and looking beyond Hatton and Warwick at our local history. We learned lots about one of the main attacks on Coventry during World War II. This took place on 14th November 1940. We took part in a number of different workshops and had the opportunity to interview actors about what they witnessed during the destruction and analyse primary and secondary sources of evidence. We also explored the ruins of the old cathedral and looked inside the new cathedral. Such a FANTASTIC day out and the children were extremely well-behaved.

Lowsonford Class - Visitors from an Eco Church

Also this week, Lowsonford Class welcomed visitors from Stratford Methodist Church to talk to them about Eco churches and the work they do. Again, this was a fascinating visit full of information. The children got to ask questions to different members of the congregation and enjoyed learning from them about their beliefs and achievements.

Shrewley Class

Last Friday, Year 4 had a great time visiting the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. We took part in an ‘Egypt Detectives’ workshop and even got to hold real Ancient Egyptian artefacts which were thousands of years old! We learnt about a huge shine of an ancient pharaoh and loved exploring the galleries and looking at the fascinating items on display. Some of us even got to hold and learn about Roman coins too, the perfect inspiration for our topic next term! Thank you to the parent volunteers who accompanied us too, your support is much appreciated.

amazing opportunity!

Do you love gardening? Would you like to potter in our beautiful garden each week, with a small group of willing children (and chickens)? Could you share your knowledge and inspire our children to love gardening? Well we’ve got just the thing for you! We want to make so much more of our garden area, but need your help. Please let us know if you would be interested in helping in any way. We would love to hear from you.

Mrs Grier.

wroxall eco school journey begins!

As of this year, Year 5 will be our Eco Schools year group, with special roles across the school monitoring energy, litter picking, fundraising and educating our pupils. We held our first meeting last week, and reviewed the 11 areas of the Eco-School award, from curriculum, biodiversity and waste, to water, energy and global citizenship. We were pleased to find that we do lots already, but there is SO much more to do, so watch this space. But Wroxall Class are ready and very, very eager!

A Huge ‘Thank You’

I am delighted to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful school community for their generous harvest donations. Your kindness and compassion have made a significant impact, as all contributions were gratefully received by the Warwick District Foodbank. Your support exemplifies the caring spirit that makes our school so special. Together, we are making a positive difference in our local community.

The fun Factory

I hope this message finds you well. We are excited to announce that Polish Club Warwickshire is organizing a new initiative, The Fun Factory, for children aged 6-12. This free program will take place every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:45 pm at The Gap Community Centre, located at 39 Oakwood Grove, Warwick CV34 5TD.

The Fun Factory offers a variety of engaging activities, including sports, arts and crafts, board games, and skill-building workshops. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and supportive environment where children can enjoy themselves, learn new skills, and make friends.

We would be grateful if you could share this invitation with the parents and guardians at your school. We believe it could be a wonderful opportunity for children in the community to participate in enriching activities after school.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to reach out to us. We look forward to welcoming children from your school to join us at The Fun Factory!
