We will be celebrating Harvest in school on Tuesday 20th October. Children are requested to bring a donation of dried food/packets/tins to school on the day, which will then be donated to Warwick and Leamington Foodbank. The following is a list of items that are frequently requested:

Longlife milk, instant noodles, tinned spaghetti, tinned vegetables, steamed puddings, loo rolls and so on.

Each class will share via their Class Twitter page how they chose to celebrate, so do keep an eye out!

baby news

I am sure you all join me in congratulating Miss Grubb, who is expecting a baby at the end of January. We are in the process of recruiting a teacher to cover Honiley Class during her maternity leave. Please be assured that there will be a comprehensive handover so that continuity for the children is not compromised.

wroxall’s day of OLYMPIC sports!

There was an energetic buzz on the field last Tuesday when Wroxall Class got to grips with a whole host of Olympic sports… long jump, badminton, table tennis, archery and triple jump to name but a few. Mrs Eaves was really impressed with how enthusiastic and engaged all the children were and was particularly pleased to see their competitive streaks coming through. It certainly looks as though they had a great day!

I really enjoyed all of the amazing sports we did. First we did Archery, it was super fun trying to get the arrow on the target and learning how to shoot. Table Tennis was also super fun, I loved playing rallies with my friends. I learned how to pass to someone in Badminton.

I really enjoyed doing Olympic sports on Tuesday. As we got to school, everyone arrived and started with Archery. I loved the competition where you had to hit 6, 7 and 8. After a while we did some great games in Table Tennis. After lunchtime we did some Long Jump and then practised a Triple Jump. You had to hop, skip and jump. The best part was the... Badminton. We warmed up then did a tournament with a partner. It was fun and energising and we won every match. I was sad when it finished because I wanted to do it all again tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the Badminton because I had never played it before and I learned how to serve. I also really enjoyed the Archery because we played fun competitions. I learnt how to hold the bow. I really enjoyed the Table Tennis because we had to do as many rallies as we could.

Tilly

Yesterday, a man from KITS Academy came and did some PE with Year 5. We had a go at Table Tennis, Archery, Badminton, Long Jump and High Jump. I really enjoyed it because I learnt about a lot of different sports. My favourite sport was Archery because it was fun learning about something new.

Achievement/class assemblies

We have been looking for a more manageable way to share children’s achievements and their learning with you. During the final week of each half-term, one class will present some of their learning from the term, and parents will be invited to view the short assembly virtually. The whole year group will then be invited on that day to have tea and cake in the school hall with Miss Morris. Class teachers will email further information nearer the time.

virtual parents’ evening

Yesterday you will have been emailed by your child’s class teacher information regarding Parents’ Evenings next Monday and Wednesday, if you had signed up for a slot. We thank you in advance for bearing with us all during this first run at carrying out appointments virtually.

henley-in-arden school

virtual opening evening

Some of Ferncumbe’s Year 6 pupils and parents got an opportunity to watch Henley-in-Arden's virtual open evening, which took place on Thursday the 17th September. Just in case anybody missed it, here is a link to the video…

The film gives pupils and parents an idea of the look, layout, ethos and opportunities the school offers.
