KS2 children visit the Sea Life Centre
On 10th November, Lowsonford and Wroxall classes visited the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. One of our favourite bits was when the penguins were following us behind the glass before some even escaped through a door when the keeper wasn't looking! We also enjoyed watching the otters sleeping and digging. Part of Lowsonford's day included learning about evolution and discussing how animals we had seen may have shared traits or ancestory - even humans! Before lunch, we watched a 4D Octonauts episode; everybody jumped when air shot out from beneath our seats as we thought it was snakes!
"I loved this day because I got to see so many incredible animals!" Kate
"The starfish were so soft and squishy. They were quite cute!" Joe
"One of the scary bits was when we were in a big see-through tunnel and a shark lay on top of it." Jack H
Pictures below are from Rowington and Shrewley's trip to the Sea Life Centre earlier on in the week.

FRIENDS OF FERNCUMBE UPDATE
The Friends of Ferncumbe ‘Movie Night’ took place last night and, as always, it was a great evening filled with films, laughter and popcorn! This year, we had over 140 children come along to watch, dressed in a variety of onesies and pyjamas. Everyone had a fabulous time.
We would like to extend a huge ‘thank you‘ to all of the children who came and took part, as well as their parents for supporting them. We hope you had as much fun as we did. We’d also like to say an especially big ‘thank you’ to all of those who volunteered to help. From Emma, Anna and Michelle, who spent time organising and pulling the evening together, through to the huge number of you who volunteered to help us on the night, we are hugely grateful. These events are not just a lot of fun for the children, they also raise valuable funds for Friends of Ferncumbe, which is used to help support our school. We couldn’t run them without your kind offers of time and help, so thank you all.
On a separate note, we had all of the orders of Christmas Cards, mugs etc. back in to school this week. All of those who placed an order should now have received those items home. We raised a whopping £471 this year, which is around 2.5 times as much as last year’s total – that’s incredible! We are also investigating a possible ‘match fund’, which could take the total even higher. Thank you so much to everyone who placed an order and we hope you enjoy sending them on to friends and family over the festive period.
Next on the Friends of Ferncumbe acitivity list, will be the DVDs of the Christmas Plays and the 2018 Calendars. We will be sending out further details on these items in due course.
We hope you have a very relaxing weekend,
The Friends of Ferncumbe
Many thanks for your support with filling shoeboxes this year. Miss Forbes has informed me that we received an incredible 71 boxes, which were collected yesterday morning.
last minute sponsor money!
Representatives from School Council have said that they are still willing to receive any outstanding sponsor forms and money. Children have not had time to calculate the final total yet, but said to pass on that it will be worth waiting for!
Best wishes for a lovely weekend,
Tracey Webb, Deputy Headteacher
