Newsletter Issue 9

Welcome to the new version of Ferncumbe Friday!

This is a repeat of the newsletter which came out via ParentMail on Friday 20th January, and will be where future editions of Ferncumbe Friday will appear fortnightly. Please do check back for updated information.

Protective Behaviours

This term the whole school will once again be following the Taking Care scheme , the aim of which is to improve the safety and well-being of children in Warwickshire by teaching them to keep themselves safe in a variety of situations. Protective Behaviours is a practical, down to earth approach to personal safety and is a process that encourages self-empowerment, alongside the skills to raise self-esteem and to help avoid being victimised. This is achieved by helping individuals to recognise and trust their intuitive feelings (Early Warning Signs) and develop strategies for self-protection.

Singtastic!

We are fortunate to be welcoming ‘Singtastic’ back to Ferncumbe on Thursday mornings throughout the Spring Term. All children in school will be learning a variety of new songs whilst being taught skills to improve their vocal technique. Do listen out at home for any favourites!

This week, we have been learning how to be REVOLTING CHILDREN, just like Matilda!

CREATIVITY

‘Creativity’ is our half-termly assembly theme - please do ask your child about any discussions they may have had during Class Worship in school.

Wroxall certainly excelled themselves yesterday morning with their creative talents during their ’Gunpowder Plot’  assembly - well done everyone!
